Aflatot in Czech Republic with support of the Ministry of Education
After many years trying to secure funding to start a pilot programme, finally AISIS, the Aflatoun partner in Czech Republic received funding from the Czech Ministry of Education. In this proposal they included Aflatot to cover the topic of Financial Literacy. They will train 120 teachers from which they want to select 15 to be trainers of other teachers. The first training will take place in September 2014.
Yellow Aflatoun, the “franchising fireball” featured in Stanford Social Innovation Review
The Stanford Social Innovation Review, summer of 2014, included a considerable and special report about the “Franchising fireball” – in fact our yellow Aflatoun gave his name to the news. This report not only tells the story of the beginning, implementing and spreading of the Alfatoun programme , as well as, it explores the scale-up pattern that Aflatoun reproduces – giving the name of “the social franchise model”.
We were very thankful and proud to read the words of the chief executive of the International Centre for Social Franchising – Dan Berelowitz – who mentioned Aflatoun “as an example” that should be followed by other organizations.
The small country known as the tail of the Europe is going to host our regional meeting this year. Together with our local partner ASFAC and with the support of the Central Bank of Portugal, Aflatoun will organize the Europe and Central Asia Regional Meeting from the 24th to 26th November.
For this Regional Meeting we hope to bring together key stakeholders to share best practices and organize workshops where specific topics related to Social and Financial Education will be discussed. More information will follow and we hope to see you there.
